Who we are

If you’ve never met us, hello! Sapling is co-founded by high school sweethearts Alicia & Kollee. We met at Black hills, and both went to college at University of Washington, after which we moved back to the Tumwater area. We’ve been back for some time now & are excited to start this new business venture! Another way to connect to the place we met, and have grown to call home.

Hello, I'm Alicia
Photographer
My personal journey into photography began in front of the camera, modeling for friends. This gives me a unique perspective on posing clients now. This is where I learned both the anxiety of what it means to be in front of a camera, but also the joy of trusting an artist to deliver on their vision. If I get the opportunity to collaborate with you, I promise to provide any posing guidance you might need to feel more comfortable, & to take photos that capture you at your very best!
Hello, I'm Kollee
PHOTOGRAPHER & editor
I've always been drawn to the art of editing; Taking a raw image and shaping it into something that truly stands out. Long before Sapling Photography & Studio, I spent time refining my skills, experimenting with color, lighting, and composition to bring photos to life. Now, I take pride in making sure every image we deliver feels polished yet natural, enhancing the moments Alicia captures without losing their authenticity. For me, editing isn’t just about adjustments, it’s about storytelling, ensuring each photo conveys the right emotion and impact.
Why Photography

Photography has been a shared passion of ours ever since college. After we had both taken some photography classes, we decided to buy our first camera together. Camera in hand, we began taking photos of family and friends, eventually taking on other clients by word of mouth. Until recently, it has always been more of a side hobby, but when the opportunity to step fully into the field of photography presented itself, we couldn’t resist!

The Making of the Studio

The studio was originally an unused storage space attached to the family business, Eco Woodworks. We saw potential, and decided to clear it out and create a space worthy of artists. Every inch was designed with intention. From the charred shou sugi ban exterior wooden stairs and to the cedar trimmed French doors, we wanted the experience to feel inspiring before you even step inside. We poured our hearts into researching the best equipment and curating a warm, intentional environment. We are proud to be able to share it with our fellow creatives!
